Nicole Speaks at Career Day at Yerba Buena High School

On March 22, Nicole had the pleasure of speaking at the first ever Career Day hosted by Yerba Buena High School in San Jose.

Nicole was asked to attend because so many students were interested in law as a potential career path.

While many other professions were represented, including law enforcement, social work, and occupational therapy, there was a significantly large number of students who requested information about the legal field. Nicole spoke to three groups of about 40 students, explaining her experiences, answering questions, and giving advice.

Coming soon: Nicole will return to Yerba Buena to speak with students enrolled in a class specifically focused on law

Nicole Participates in Citizenship Day

On February 28th, Nicole participated in Citizenship Day!

The four-hour event, hosted by the Asian Law Alliance in conjunction with other non-profit organizations such as the Immigrant Legal Resource Center and the International Institute of the Bay Area, was held in San Jose and open to low-income individuals and families seeking the help of an immigration attorney in filing their citizenship applications. The workshop was a complete success - attorney volunteers assisted hundreds of immigrants with their citizenship applications!

Nicole spent hours reviewing the applications of about a dozen immigrants and listening to their interesting and heartfelt stories about life in the United States. The individuals and families she helped were extremely grateful, not only for the assistance with their applications, but for the chance to build a better life here. Nicole felt lucky to have been a part of this experience, and plans to volunteer again in the future!
